.38 S&W Revolver Model?

I have a .38 S&W Revolver with a 4" barrel. I cannot find a model number. There is the number K 296420 on the butt & cylinder. When I roll the cylinder out the number 919 48 is stamped on the hinge.
I would like help in identifying this revolver and maybe getting a estimated value. The gun is good and tight (very little use) and 98% of the blueing intact.
Thanks for your help.

That number under the crane is an assembly number.

From the serial number and barrel length, it sounds like Combat Masterpiece, shipped from the factory in approximately 1954.

In that condition you usually see them in $550-600 range.

Does it look like mine below? The brass grip adapter is an add on.

You could list it on the internet at Gun Broker, Guns America, etc. You will do way better than if you take it to a dealer.
