new (to me) Swarovski binos!

I have been wanting a pair of these binos for a long time, but have had a hard time justifying the cost. Because this desire has not subsided, I have been keeping my eyes open for a deal. My patience was rewarded yesterday. I found a pair of 8 x 30 SLC's in craigslist locally and picked them up for under $500! They are the older style (they are black and not green, and have the words "Habicht SLC" and "SWAROVSKI" on the bridge) but I believe they are about 9 or 10 years old and the glass is perfect. I compared them to the new "HD" comparable model at the local retailer, and the clerk and I tried them side-by-side outside at 8:30pm but found very little difference. I have since discovered that the serial number starts with DA and understand that the A indicates that they have been refurbished in America? Does anyone know why or what a refurbishment entails? (Not that it will make much difference from what I can tell- these bins are sweet and can't wait to use them to spot sheds and shoot coyotes! )
