How can I connect a flashlight to my son's 20 ga 870? It has the standard length magazine tube

I was on the same quest a couple years ago. I got a 12 with the surefire forend and shoot low recoil out of it because I couldn't find a satisfactory solution.

CDM makes a product that would work for you.

There are more and seemingly stronger options if you install an extended mag tube.

For inexpensive, yet effective shotgun & rifle stocks and doo-dads, Choate is a good first stop:

In this case, I have bought and installed two of the mounts in question. They work just fine:

Screw the mount to your son's forearm and mount gun light. My HD shotgun has a Streamlight TL-1 or some such. Directions say you will have to drill holes in your stock. I did not have to, but a tiny, skinny pilot hole might be in order.

Probably a better idea to screw it to the forearm of his shotgun. Just sayin'.
