sksfan - I had one that the bolt wouldn't close on too. I found that the extractor was bent in too tight and hitting the bottom of the cartridge when trying to close the bolt. It came to me this way when ordered. I had a gunsmith adjust the extractor and it works good now. You might check that.

In 2003 I found a Sako M39 on a gun show table and dickered it down to $90. I paid $35 and had the bolt handle TIG welded. I got a quantity of gen 1 TAPCO AR15 risers for $9 each by dickering down Cheaper than Dirt on the phone. I milled out an AR15 riser to fit the hex receiver. I did not do a very good job. [This last week I finally figured out how to mill hex shapes in scope mounts for an 1892 Winchester]. But I put epoxy between the hex receiver and my bad milling, and the M39 shoots.

Duzell, I refinished the wood. I used minwax Sedona red to do the job.

This is a 91/30 that I modified. First, I cut 10 inches off the barrel and recrowned the muzzle. This reduced the length to 38 inches, from the original 48". I also cut off the fore-end of the stock and reshaped it. I added a Brass Stacker scope mount and an NC Star scout scope. I refinished the stock. Then I got a Brass Stacker front-sight adapter to reattach the front iron sight.

@SC4006, thanks ive been thinking about redoing mine ill look into that
@clark, that is some serious commitment to your girl there, ive never seen that done before, ever thought about doing a vid on it so we can see a full view and 360 view? @sharpenit, first other brass stacker ive seen other than my own, its really an advantage to have it in my opinion. well so far my mosin hunt yesterday was a bust the big 5 stores all say they are out and dont know when another shipment will be in, said they sold 100 something in like a week and charged 200-600 per rifle, that is crazy, mine was only 109$ on sale, but still anything close to 600 is just crazy imo ive made a few more mosin lovers after some shot my mosin. but seriously im going to need to look harder, we have a fair amount of mosin users here, and i want those who are new and interested in one to find one, but i haven't a clue were to look scept a few of the private gunstores i know also side note, ive got a archangel stock on they way so ill get new picks of it up when i have time

I have 3 a 1932 hex, 1942 sniper and a 1945 m44 all are #'s matching and the m44 has a brass stacker mount with fixed 4x32 LER scope. I have floated all the barrels and put in trigger return springs and shimmed the sears to reduce triger pull.

To everyone that has been posting on this thread. Seems like mosinitis is a real disease and highly contagious.
Some early warning signs are: 1. Watching "Enemy at the Gates" multiple times. 2. Posing in front of a mirror while holding a mosin. 3. Getting caught staring at your mosin for a extended period of time. 4. Cycling the mosin bolt over and over again because it feels good. 5. You find that your mosin understands your better than your wife does. 6. Considering naming your newborn baby "Mosin". Please be careful everyone. |

Irons shoot low left, but I go 100-200 is a 1" group normal
At 300 it's 1.5-2" if i dont control breathing or I mess up and move Scope is unzeroed ,and will be off till i get new stock, i wil compare iron groups and zero scopeon most accurate stock.
