Case Prep Questions (newbie)
I'm just starting to reload and plan to reload 50-110 and 45-70 ammo. I've got a couple of questions:
1. On a straight walled case such as those mentioned above, do you lube the entire case or do you lube just up the area that is the depth of the bullet seating? 2. Do you lube the inside of the case mouth and is that just the area up to the bullet depth and if you do why not just lube the bullet instead of the inside of the case mouth. |

Use should lube the full length of the case, and how much lube depends on what brand/kind of lube you are using. I stick to Imperial exclusively, and you can use it sparingly. One small tin of Imperial lasts YEARS AND YEARS.
Lubing the inside of the neck is really only for bottle neck rifle rounds as far as I know, but someone may have a differing opinion. And going along with the them of "case prep" questions, you should do any measuring for length and subsequent trimming AFTER you've resized the case, and not before.

Attention Brass rats and other reloaders: I really need .327 Federal Magnum brass, no lot size too small. Tell me what caliber you need and I'll see what I have to swap. PM me and we'll discuss. |

G'day and welcome. Dip the end of bottle neck cases into powder Graphite. Any residue left inside the case after reloading won't cause dramas. The rest of the case will still need to be lubed.
