Who makes good M1A stripper clips?

Who makes good M1A stripper clips? I'm having a hard time locating good quality stripper clips anywhere. I made the mistake of buying SKS stripper clips by NcStar which were total crap. I just don't want another poor quality clip.

I'm not positive, but I think this is where I got mine.

I will say that the clips work fine, however, my magazines are a bit stiff and don't accept them nearly as easily as an SKS. Maybe I just need to use the magazines a bit more. Hopefully you find some that work well.

I did see those I wasn't sure if they are were good or not. I've not had any luck finding good mags either. Thats why I'm looking for stripper clips for now.

I'm pretty sure I've bought several M1A magazines from 44mag.com

They're a little stiff of easy stripper clip loading, but have been very reliable so far.

I like the smoothness of stainless steel- they don't bind or grab like brass or parkerized steel...

For the 7.62x51 NATO to be used in an M1A, why would you use anything other than US GI stripper clips? I don't know just how available they are now, but just a few years ago they were plentiful. Many cartridges have the same rim size, i.e. .30-06, .308, even .45ACP, but all cartridges don't behave the same when trying to strip cartridges into an action of a rifle or a magazine.

I'm sure if you just check a few surplus dealers at gun shows, you will find the GI variety.

7, I found some GI clips at the last gunshow in Phoenix. They seem to do just fine. Ordered several CMI mags from 44Mag.com - CMI currently holds a/the govt contract to supply GI Spec mags to the services, and their 20 rounder has a NSN. I've had absolutely no problem with those, or the 25 rounders either. Hope this helps...

When I was in the Army we still were issued M14's. When we were at the range we loaded our magazines manually, one round at a time.

The ammo that came in stripper clips were 5 rounds and ment to load ammo into a magazine without detaching it from the rifle. It was near impossible to accomplish this.

You had to insert the clips into the top of the receiver then using something hard, usually another magazine, push forcefully on the rounds to get them into the magazine. Then you had to repeat that three more times to have twenty rounds.

That would be rather dicey if we had used M14's all during Vietnam.

Are their any 10 rounders that will work?5 rounders for a 20 round mag seems like alot of trouble.Not bad for topping the mag off but not idea for a full reload.

As far as I know, 5 rounders are all that's available- except for the 5.56 clips. I suspect that trying to thumb more than 5 rnds (30cal) out of a stripper clip would cause them to bind, twist, and generally act all sorts of ignernt. There is a reason match shooters like the stainless steel ones I linked to- they are smooth and drag-free.
