When did your 2013-14 license expire? Around here, one needed a 2014-2015 license to hunt Spring Turkey, and that was two months ago. Ours expire on March 31st.

Got 'em in NC too. Not enough to hunt. I think Kentucky has a season now too. There are plans to bring a herd to GA as well.

From NC.

We have a season in VA too. It is closed in some counties due to the reintroduction of elk from Kentucky. The counties that allow elk hunting are from ones that wander in on their own from out of state. There have been several articles on the elk that have been relocated to VA and the population is growing pretty good from it.

Good luck on the draw. Would love to head back to PA (I was born and raised there) to hunt elk

If I recall the 13-14 license actually dies at the end of June.

Just with spring turkey over, they release the new ones early.

Of course you have to put in for the elk lottery by July 31st. Drawing isn't till the end of Sept.
Season is first week of Nov.

Give us lots of time to scout things out...

PS.
Anyone else in PA that spring turkey hunts, it's late again next year!!!

Actually, there is "sort of" elk hunting in NC. I found this out when my wife was considering taking a job there. From what I read, NC has an offically established population of elk in a acouple of counties. They are letting those elk grow without any hunting at all.

However, there are several NC counties adjacent to Tenn where elk have wondered over the border in fair numbers. The state of NC really doesn't want them there yet so they are fair game during deer season. There was a newspaper story and picture where one guy got a decent looking bull during muzzleloader season.

Maybe we can send some of those Elk over to OH. I would love to have a huntable population of Elk in OH in my lifetime.

Don't need to send the whole herd over, but I'm just saying that I would not mind if a handful of them meandered over the border and set up shop in OH.

Honestly, I am thrilled with the efforts of the RMEF and other groups in re-establishing Elk throughout the USA. Hopefully at some point in my life we may have a huntable population again around the midwest.
