Remington R51 springless extractor

Near the end of this video Mr. Mixup98 shows the culprit behind the extraction problems.

It's at 12:00 if you're in a hurry.

Does this also address the feeding reliability issues?? Every video I watch about the R51 shows that it is plagued with chambering problems.

Shame, too, as I had contemplated getting one.

Why would anyone buy one?

Yep, but the real Remington Model 51 was a fine quality pistol with excellent ergonomics.
My wife’s grandfather carried this one starting about 100 years ago until he retired in the early 1950s. The Texas weather helped the slide finish wear off. It is a .380 and currently resides in my safe as a family heirloom.

"Extractor Elastomer Button" (is what the part is called in the manual.)

I think it was the less common .32 had an unsprung extractor. No rubber, either.

When I first saw that thing I thought he had stuck a piece of eraser in there for a joke.

Poor Remington. They did everything right with that gun except make it work reliably.
