243 powder question

I have a remmington 700 .243. Am using berger flat base pointed bullet
and varget powder .what is a good starting point for powder weight.just for target shooting. thanks Rick

My recommendation is check the books Which reloading book are you using? I have a slew of them and they are different in a lot of cases. I start with a couple of grains below the max and move up as required. Most of my rifles shoot more accurate just below max loads, but not all. It is an experiment thing, but start below the max in the books and look for pressure signs. You might experiment with bullets as well. Mine is more accurate with the boat tails in all products bought. FWIW Mine loves Hornady 105's and Barnes triple shock which are just flat awesome on the terminal end. Retired from varmit work and is sole purpose deer rifle.
