Scope flip up lens protector help
I am trying to order a Butler Creek flip up rear lens protector for my Nikon Pro Staff 4x12x40.
The rear of the scope measures 44 mm in diameter But - the rubber focus ring in front of the metal body of the scope only measures 43 mm in diameter. It is 12 mm deep. Would I order the flip up to fit the body of the scope or the focus ring. The choices are flip ups that are 43.2 mm or 43.9 mm. It would be easy if the focus ring was larger not smaller than the scope body as with my other scopes. I am stumped. Thanks. Jim |

Buy for the body of the scope.
You shouldn't need to adjust the focusing ring after it is set. |

By the way-
The Butler Creek guide for scope dimensions on my model Nikon are WAY off. Fortunately I went to Nikon factory specs and confirmed further with my own calipers. It's been a process lol. |

If it has a clear see through 'lens' take the protector off !! The 'lens' will distort
the view and the scope will no longer be accurate ! This is something you can easily check.
