30 grains safe in a 51?

I'm hopefully getting a 51 soon and i have about 200 30gr pellits of pyrodex I want to use up i originally got them for my 58 but thats now my cartrige only gun would it be safe to use these up in the steel framed 51?

If your '51 is a .44 then those Pyrodex pellets will work but they are on the upper end.

yeah its a 44 i know its not the optimal load to use but I dont want them to go to waste

That would be on the high side. I think the Civil war load was 17 gr. of black.

It varied from 17-26 for a .36 if I'm not mistaken but his is a .44. 30 grns. in a steel frame is fine but you'll get better performance from loose powder.

got to shoot the 51 today the pellets are crap got about 40 rounds off and i dont think I ever got to shoot all six in a row had to use two caps on about 6-7 had one that never did go plus every third shot was a hang fire "click...pssst.....boom" some shots felt like a bomb went off and others felt like a bb gun why do these suck so bad?

Was the side with the coating of black powder inserted down facing the nipple?
If there was another problem then first dropping a tiny booster charge of loose powder into each chamber should have helped to ignite them.

mine look the same on both ends I have two cans of these things and they all look the same I dont see anything on the ends of the pellets
