Marlin 60 .22 semi-automatic rifle - bore sighting?

Is it possible to manually bore sight a Marlin 60? Seems that it's done with bolt action rifles with little problem.

If it can be done with a Marlin 60, can it be done without difficulty? Is it worth it?

In the alternative, I was thinking of just mounting the scope, leveling the rifle and scope, and going to the range, and trying to zero at 50 yards, unless it ok to zero it at 25 yards (I know that 50 would generally be preferable).

You can get it roughly sighted in just by eyeball but it takes a cradle or some other devise to hold it perfectly still. Mount the gun in the cradle so that the barrel is pointing towards a wall about 20 or so ft away. Sight your eyeball down the side and then the top of the barrel and have someone put a piece of tape on the wall where your eye tells you the barrel is pointing. Then, adjust the crosshairs to match the tape. It isn't perfect, but it will get you on paper at that distance and you can do your fine adjusting from that point.

.22 ammo is cheap and it only takes a few rounds to get you as close or closer than bore sighting ever will. In short, bore sighting would be a waste of time and effort.

My thoughts exactly. Set a target fairly close (20-25 yards). Within 4-5 shots, you will be sighted in just as well as you would be if you tried to bore sight.

You could use a laser bore sighter.

Typing paper, magic marker, and a cardboard box. Draw a horizontal line and two or three vertical lines. Tape paper to box. Start at ten yards, get centered but an inch or so low. Move to 25 yards and zero. Then move to whatever sight-in distance you want for final zero.
