AR 15 buffer tube fitting problem
I just got an ATI commercial buffer tube and a Mako Fab Defense survival stock. The stock said it fits comm. and mil spec both. The buffer tube is 1.168" and the opening in stock is 1.18", but tube won't go in stock at all. I had it about halfway in and barely got it back out. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm sure you know this--but are you pulling the lever which disengages the lock pin down far enough to get started on the buffer tube?

I tried it on a mil spec tube and it fits fine. The package clearly says it will fit both. It's tight right from the start. To me it looks like it's tight on top and bottom so I'm wondering if it has been misshapen somehow.

From what I've read about those stocks, they are difficult to get on until you get past the tensioners in the stock. But I'd stick with the milspec tube.

Ya I beat it all the way on and it was tight enough that it was a chore to beat it back out. It either is mil spec and marked wrong or somehow maybe it has gotten misshapen.

Tubes are generally cheaper than stocks--or just return the stupid thing.

Return the buffer tube you have now for a true milspec tube. Milspec tubes are stronger anyway.
Unless that isn't an option... |
