Quote insert goes to random location

I have an 11” Apple IPad Pro (2021) 128gb that I access

the site with.

When I type a long post and click on the Quote button, it inserts into a random location.

Does anybody else see this? Am I causing it somehow? No issues on other forums or this forum 6 months ago.

I just recreated in this post. I typed this all out, move the curser to a location between paragraphs and the insert quote showed up where you see above. Did it again and it worked correctly between paragraphs.

That sounds like a browser issue only. Also, it isn't clear what text you inserted or where you inserted it.

I put the word here in so you could see it.

I would 100% agree that it sounds like a browser issue, except I use multiple forums regularly with 2 devices and have the issue here. Additionally, it did not happen for years. Seems to have started in the last 6 months or so.

The quote button should put the quote tags wherever the cursor is.

Are you saying that you put the cursor in a location, verify that it's there, then when you click the quote button, the quote tags appear somewhere else?

Does the cursor stay where you left it, or does it move to the new location where the tags show up?

I don't see how the software could do that--the cursor location is controlled by the user/browser.

Maybe the browser is incorrectly remembering where the cursor was instead of where it is when you attempt to place a quote there.

Try this little nudge to see if the cursor location problem gets any better:
Place the cursor where you want the quote to go, then add a space, and then backspace. The cursor location should then be fixed.

Our software hasn't changed for more than a decade so that shouldn't be the problem. On the other hand, because the software is old, and the software for practically all browsers is updated regularly, a timing problem or another type of glitch may have been introduced recently.

I have seen security applications cause that.

I have zero experience with modern Apple products and apps, though.
