refinished a Western Field 740 rifle
Finished another one, this one is a Western Field 740 (Marlin 336).....I had to blue it three times to get it right, but that happens sometimes....

Looks great.
My first rifle is/was a Weternfield/Mossberg bolt action .22, I managed to scratch the barrel removing the rear sight, and have thought about refinishing it. Did you remove the barrel and mag tube to polish them?
