Model 41 make date?

I just purchased a model 41. I believe it to be one of the recent classics offered by S&W, judging by the plastic case. Serial # UDA 0128. Anyone know what year it was made? Thanks in advance.

The Standard Catalog of S&W is incomplete for semi autos made after 1994.
The "U" prefixes started around 1997.
The only way to know for sure would be to call S&W's customer service. They will give you the DOB over the phone for free.

S&W started using the plastic cases in 1995.

Holy cow, you guys know your stuff! I have 3 S&W revolvers I'd like to know the years on.

The first is a 66 I asked about earlier this week before I bought it:

4K20XXX

MY 686 PowerPort:

CBB53XX

And - if it's ok - the 617 I got a few months ago:

CDK44XX

If my habit continues to grow, I'll definitely have to buy some books! Maybe a model 60, a 6" model 19, a couple snubbies....you know, just the essentials.

Could you please tell me the date of manufacture for this Model 29 and what "dash" it might be (29-2, 29-3 etc.)?

b) 6" bbl
c) square grips
d) 6 shot
e) Serial #AUC239X
f) Mod. 29

Jim, thanks for the reply. I am aware of where to look for the model number. I don't have a picture of the revolver, just going off of the label on a box. I have pasted a photo of a photo (not very clear) of the label with Serial #AUC2392. According to the label, it shows to be a nickel Model 29. What am I missing here?

Is that not what it is?

Per the label, the special order number 6115 means the gun was packaged on the 115 day of 1986. That makes it a 29-3. The -2's ended in 1982 and the -3's ended in 1988.
The product code 101212 confirms a 6" nickel 29.

Jim,
I thought you meant by your response that it was a 629-1 like the picture you sent. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I appreciate your help and thank you very much. Take care, Bill

Just found a nice older I-frame 32swl, serial 4544XX; IIRC it should be around late 20s or early 30s
Appreciate any help!

The N2xxxxx serial numbers ran from 1974 to 1977.

It would be a 32 Hand Ejector 3rd Model. Serial numbers ran from 263001 in 1911 to 536684 in 1940.
Heat treating started at SN 321000 in 1920. That's as far as the book breaks it down.

I don't have the Catalogue handy, it is in a separate storage facility. I actually bought two of them and I thought that I had at least one here but conducted a search and could not find them here in my apartment.

You might be able to save me a trip. That would be appreciated...

I have a 65-5, Serial #is CBE 61**.
