Has Taurus bought Heckler & Koch?
Hi everybody,
I am Brazilian and I have been hearing increasing rumours that Taurus has purchased HK, and is now planning a proper announcement. There is, of course, the possibility that these rumours are entirely false. Has anyone heard anything similar? |

Wow , that doesn't make any sense at all. I would think a site like www.hkpro.com would be the first to know.

Bear with me, I am not trying to start any rumour mill or anything. It is just that I have been hearing from multiple sources (mainly from Brazilian Military) that a deal has happened, to the point where I thought it may have actually happened.
A friend of mine from the Special Operations Brigade here in Brazil has told me it is actually a partnership between Taurus and HK to produce the HK416 in Brazil, but he was not able to provide any details either. Like I said in the first post, take it all with a grain of salt. |

That would not have to mean that Taurus purchased HK. It could simply men that HK would license Taurus to manufacture the HK 416 in Brazil probably for military use.

Hmm...that is interesting. If you discover anything that could substantiate this then maybe you could let us know?

Exactly.
But that wouldn´t explain why so many grunts are saying it is a done deal over here. I guess there would be more information available if it was true. |

If only it were true.
The heads of every HK fanboy out there would explode in rather spectacular fashion. |

I should be a little peeved at that statement, Techno, because it really only serves to ignite more controversy between the two groups...
But it's just so damned funny...

maybe HK is trying to sell more of their overly priced guns by having them made in Brazil. Cheap labor? Or they could send them to the Philppines or Cocco Florida for even lower prices.

Oh, the joy it will bring me to watch all the Hk fan boys squirm on the ground in pain if it's true
I think it's more likely that they licensed production for the 416 to Brazil. Keep the cost down, plus no import/export issues.

I didn't hear about Taurus buying H&K. I do have to refute rumors that S&W once belonged to them, though.
Also, if they bought Kimber, would anyone notice?

Never owned either one, but HK produces some fine firearms, with very fine prices. Taurus produces firearms with not-so fine prices. I have read that Taurus has a very bad reputation on customer service. I don't think this would bode well for HK.
