AR-15: Free float forearm questions

I'm stuck on what I should get for my AR. I either want a DD AR Lite 14" or a Fortis Rev 14"

I'm concerned with the strength of the Fortis and would like to save some money buying that instead of a DD if strength won't be a problem. What I mean by that is I plan on using this gun bushwhacking in the future I want to make sure that while it's slung over my back I won't hurt the forearm. And yes I'm trying to save a little weight but don't want to buy a round forearm. Would prefer a quad rail and REALLY like the look of the DD but I could use that almost $200 for other things.

I am usually not one to mention price when someone ask for advice on particular items I usually just comment on the items in question, but in this case I find I must. I have a few different rails Troy, Midwest Industries, YHM to name a few, never had Daniel Defense and at the $$$ they want I never will. I just don't see a forearm quad rail being worth $400.00 there are others that will do the exact same thing at 1/2 the price, if you want to pay for a name go for it, but I believe anything over $250.00 for a quad rail and you have reached the point of diminishing returns and are just paying for the brand name. I am sure the Fortis Rev would be strong enough unless you are planning on using it to drive rail road spikes....

Granted, it's 1" shorter than you'd like, but 13" is not bad. It is pricey at $283, but the flip up front sight will save you money if you don't already own a front sight you like. I have a Troy 9" rail and really like it, and if I ever upgraded this is the one I'd get. It's also modular, so you can throw rail sections on it where every you'd like.

Hmm... I like the Troy forearms but I REALLY like the profile of the DD and how it fits in my hands. I think it fits perfectly to the profile of the AR without adding too much extra bulk and from the accounts I can see seems to be strongest in the industry. However that said, I am not convinced (due to price) it's what I should be getting.

Anyone ever handled a POF rifle? I love their forearm, but I think theirs is attached at the receiver and not the barrel nut so it would require major gun smithing I'm not ready to do to my Colt. Anyone ever seen something like that on other guns?

I'm also really interested to see if anyone has ever handled a Fortis Rev at all. Probably the slickest looking rails I've seen in a while.

Also just looked at the Midwest T series. Really liking that. And at that price my $500 budget will allow me to get a nice new trigger.
