I use a .270 for deer, there have been occasions where we may push a coyote out of the woods that i've shot, if the goal is to kill them and let them rot where they drop, .270 works fine.

Killed several with the .22LR squirrel hunting. Works fine if you put the bullet in the right place. I wouldn't take it out looking for coyote, I use a .22 magnum for that.

Killed four in the yard with a .22lr. Three at night and one in the morning at about 0830.
Wasn't hunting them. They were hunting the rabbits in the yard and our shephard was going crazy in the house. He must have winded them cause he couldn't see them. |

I'd stick with the 270 myself. 22lr to the head will work, but why limit yourself with shot placement?

When we hunt the old "hog farm" we coyote hunted while deer hunting, so if saw a yote, we'd shoot'em with whatever we were hunting with,,, but I have never deerhunted with a .22lr. Mostly 3006, .270 win.

I usually hunt coyotes with a 357 magnum. I have killed them with 17HMR as well.

I know this crazy old guy who works at a local range. My past conversations/experiences with him have given me cause to believe him when he speaks. He is quite fond of his Noinco SKS (7.62x39) and tells me he can hit the yotes (with open sites) at 200-300 yards with ease.
