Proper cleaning

I was able to shoot 4 rounds of skeet today
Getting low 20's now (3rd time out).

But at the beginning of my 4th game I had a failure to eject.

I have a Beretta 3901

The shell was only half way out of the receiver. Kind of looked like this but it was in the receiver not on that little rail (which I dont have) http://www.multicatch.com/index.html

Now I am thinking that is because it is a gas system and it is starting to get gummed up (but I was hoping that I could get more than 4 games before cleaning).

Currently how I clean it is take out the barrel, and bolt.
Put a little oil where the bolt slides and clean out the barrel.

Is there something I am missing. I am not thinking the trigger group would really need much if any cleaning.

OK, which is better for 2 Bantu, 5 Hottentots, and 3 pygmies playing a war march on a calliope at 3 a.m. during a monsoon?

Some of the cheap promo loads can be quite dirty; although 4 rounds is a little soon. When you clean it, check the gas ports for buildup - brake cleaner gets it clean right away

I was using cheap Estate rounds. $55 for 250 rounds. Then $4 for a round of skeet for a non member (really cheap...)

Where would the gas ports be

Yes, barring a mechanical mishap, you should get way more than 4 rounds before your Beretta starts to hiccup. I suspect one or two things: Did you clean all of the factory preservatives (generally, preservatives are not meant to be lubricants) from the gun when new, and are you wiping off most of the oil after you apply it?

Typically the gas works (around and forward of the magazine tube) will gum up quickly if lubricated. The gas needs to vent freely, not get caught up in a lubricant and turn to gorp. The owners manual recommends cleaning the gas works components, but do not oil these parts. If you don't have a manual, click here.

Though not a Beretta barrel pictured.. They are in the same location on your Beretta.. I own a 3901 as well..
