What guns did you pass over and regret to this day?

Me:

1). WV State Police-marked S&W 686 for $400.00. Why? "I don't like revolvers and I just bought two other guns from this store today."

2). International Harvester M1 Garand, same 10,000 serial number lot as the one my father carried in Korea for $550.00. Why? "I just bought two other guns out of the same pawn shop."

3). DWM marked GEW 98 with roller coaster rear sight for $100.00 at Roses store, 1994. Why? I honestly don't know why I passed that up.

4). New AK 74 "Krinkov" kit (original barrel) at Centerfire Systems for $550.00 in 2005. Why? "That's a lot of money." Ugh....find one now.

Mosin, I remember when they was 49 bucks.. I kept telling my self I was gonna pick up some.. but always had "other" stuff to buy.. it seemed like the supply was endless.

The price creeped up and now the surplus ammo has dried up.. oh well.

VZ58, Remember when they was pretty cheap, I didn't really understand them and thought them a cheap rip off of the ak47.
After I got to know them I decided I actually like them MORE than the AK.
By then it was to late, prices are up, stock is down.
I still plan to get a couple some day when the planets align.

Rossi 38spl (I dont' remember what they called the model I think the 66? er anyway it was a older model but it was in great shape and everything was right and tight), guy wanted 155, the cheap skate in me tried to talk him down to 150, He wouldn't budge.. I moved on.

Same thing happen to a Hi-standard sentinel.. someone on armslist wanted 150 for it.. I tried to talk them down even more and it sold quick.. that's what I get for trying to wring a few more bucks out of someone.

A friend had a Rossi .357 Magnum, stainless steel, adj. sights. It was a beauty and shot very, very well. I had the chance to buy it but I "wasn't a revolver man." He sold it to another friend that had a squib load, fired it again, and blew 1/2 of the cylinder off. Thankfully he wasn't hurt.

*I bought one of those Moisins, for $39.99 at Roses. I still have it. I wish I had bought more.

I won the bidding on a S&W 1911 Sc for $900.00, in state sale too. I was going to drive up and get it but I lost my job. The guy let me out of the gunbroker.com auction because I offered to pay the seller's fees to the site. I should have gone on and bought it though as I later got the Performance Center version and I think I like the basic version better.

Kind of a weird one but the CZ 612 HC-P.

I always thought they would make a really nice HD shotgun but never prioritized it. Now they're discontinued and the only real shot at getting one is dealing with the shipping fees of gun broker or armslist.

Very minor regret, but I still remember, so . . . American Derringer chambered in .45 Auto Rim.
I liked the idea of a shortish cartridge for a longer effective barrel length, and the rimmed case allowed for a working ejector rather than having to poke the empties out with a pen or other tool.
I'd seen it at a gun show, returned the following month with cash in hand, and the table was gone.

A S&W 1950 .45 Target Model (Light Barrel) Pre-Model 26 with a book value of "As New in the Box" of $4,000.00 or a rating of "Excelent" condition at $3,200.00.

This .45 ACP revolver is somewhere in between "ANIB" and excelent condition. since it has been fired. It is a real beauty and S&W only made 2,768 of these guns.

No, I did not let it get away. The other bidder did. The hammer fell at $1,577.00. I am lucky and blessed to have it in my rack.

A m1a at $800. It was a rental gun. The range / gun shop wanted to sell it because not too many people rented it. It was in good condition and the shop offered some warranty. I hesitated and finally decided to pass.

Why? It was 2009 and I had been out of job for more than a year. I needed the money to feed my family.

I passed up a Browning Model 78 in .30-06 for $600 asking price. It was a little scratched up so I said no. Probably could have even got a better price, but I was dumb!

Too many to count but here are the main causes of pain. 7.5" flat top Ruger BlackHawk .44mag. An 8.4" S&W M27 in the wood presentation box. A Belgium Browning primo .375 H&H. A S&W M39. A Colt New Frontier .44spl 7.5". A 5.5" second gen Colt SAA. Several 1911s and customized Browning HP, several S&W M19s, M17s, M28s and an airweight S&W M12. I could go on but I've started crying.

A Winchester pre-64 model 70 in 30-06,almost NIB condition.The year was 1986,San Diego Cali,the guy wanted $400.I was a young E-5,my unit was in the hot box(next mission was on us),told the guy I'd check with him when I returned.Of course it was long gone.

A Colt Woodsman I let get away from me in trade.I can't even remember what I got for it........but it's long gone too.

the LGS/ Shooting range that i go to had a S&W 686 on the wall and they do the try it before you buy it, or rent a gun, and it had been rented out so much that it was at a 40% discount, plus my military discount, so it was either right at or more than 50% off.....

and no lie the trigger on the gun when the hammer was pulled back was sick.. like sub 3lb pull.... i actually told one of the guys i'd be afraid of shooting my dick off with this one lol... ends up the same guy who initially showed me the gun, ended up buying it lol cuz of "his" discount and the discount on the gun... i think he paid 450$ OTD

Multiple Ruger Number 1s in new or like-new condition in various calibers because the price was "just too high for a single shot rifle." I think I started the desire to own one when the price was around $600.

Only one gun I regret not buying.

My first gun ever was a Colt King Cobra. Next to the King Cobra was a Colt Grizzly, for a mere $100 more. I didn’t think know at the time, but the Grizzly was limited to 500. Nowadays, they go for almost $10,000 or so.

I would have shot the hell out of it, like I did the King Crobra. So it would have been worth probably half of the $10,000. But the Grizzly is one of the prettiest designs for a revolver, nicer than a Python. I love Colt revolvers. The only revolvers I will buy and collect are Colt.

Beretta model 90, (.32acp) Roma, because "it was just a .32".

I often pine for the return of my Russian SKS.
But, at the same time, I usually also admit that I got rid of it because I never shot it. I never shot it because it wasn't feasible to reload (half the cases went into orbit), and I wasn't going to pay the going rate for quality ammo.

The rest went away for good reasons. Would I like to have some of them back? Sure.
But I don't really view disposing of them as mistakes.

Oh gosh. In 1994 I could have bought several Russian SKS's for $75.00 each......I was 18 at the time and went for a Chinese SKS for $50.00.

My brother-in-law wanted to sell his M1 Carbine plus about 500 rounds of ammo for a grand total of $400 bucks. About five years ago. I wanted it but money was just tight enough that I thought I better wait.

I should have bought it from him.

He sold it and bought a Circuit Judge. When he passed away a couple of years later, he left it to me. I still haven't shot it but I really wish I'd bought that M1.
