best brass???

just looking for opinions on the best brass. particularly .223, .308, .45 acp, and big magnums (454, 460, etc.) i've mostly used federal, bha, and a little starline, but just curious about other folks pros and cons. reliability and consistency is key i guess, but any outside opinions are always great. thanks.

The brass I have after firing factory rounds.
Or, Starline if I want virgin brass.
Right now, probably any I can find.

Starline for handgun, Lapua for rifle. Not that I don't use others, just what I prefer.

All my handgun brass is Starline..

..most of my rifle is various brands once fired...I really havent noticed much difference for durability between the brands.

Pistol brass is same to me also. 223 brass i also like military brass.

Best Brass is the once fired that non reloaders leave on the floor of the range. Really good for reloading and it's free.

I am very impressed with Starline brass. It is not only great in the big magnums, but it is far superior in 45 Colt.

Chiefr said it - because of my experience with Starline in .45 colt, it's the only brass I buy for handguns.

According to an article by Linebaugh, and he would know, Federal followed by Winchester and then (a distant third) Remington. Now this article was written a while ago so Starline may not have been on his radar or even in existance. I usually buy Winchester but I like Starline as well.

I don't know about the best but the worst I've used (well tried to use) is AMERC then Federal (too soft). All the AMERC once fired. The Fed was new and also once fired.

For rifle I get good life from LC and Rem/UMC.
For handgun I get good life from REM, WIN, WCC and IMI.

Starline for handgun target ammo,
range brass for handgun plinking ammo
Lapua for match centerfire rifle ammo,
mostly winchester for centerfire plinking ammo

Slugcatcher, you are correct AMERC is absolute garbage. Do not even try to reload AMERC.

Stay away from AMERIC. Some say Federal is soft but that has not been my experience. Other than that, I have good results with: Starline, Federal, Winchester, Remington, Lake City in rifle and/or pistol rounds.

I like Remington brass. Comes from the factory trimmed to length. Can be reloaded lots of times.

I have roughly 400 rounds of mixed brass that have all been reloaded at least 6 times each for my 44..starline,hornady,winchester,remington, cbc and gfl. i do keep them seperate and use the cbc and gfl for my light loads. These two are the only head stamped brands that have "wore out " the starline and remington are used only for my "better get a lot better grip " loads. No throw outs yet. Winchester brass came new and needed touched up before loading....remington and starline needed nothing,ready to load out of the bag. if i had to choose only one it would be starline, but i really can't say it's better. I also have 8 nickel plated federal cases that were given to me used and i have no complaints about them either...sooo brass is brass ???? Maybe for the small time shooter like me. But again if i could only have one....starline.

I wish rem would match theirs, it might not be to much of a concern, but I found rem dinged up and also there weight can very in weight, I will start buying lupua or nosler from now own, like in my 30-06, loaded up 3 rounds of the lightest , 3 loaded of the mid weight ones and 3 loads of the heavier ones..
"a case weight class" 3 targets, you can watch the groups walk around

Match rifle brass, Lapua, pistol what I can find. I've never seen any rifle brass superior to Lapua.
