I’d sure like some idea of.....

.......when small pistols primers will be back in good supply. The shortage has gotten critical around the Houston area and all the major online sources I’m aware of. When I see “no back order” next to small pistol primers online, my concern is even greater.

Pandemic, Riots, election.

I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Best case scenario for all gun stuff I figure first or second quarter next year. Worst case 2-3 years before it all settles.

So did you see MachineGunTommy's post about a group buy down below? If you are close enough you may be able to meet his terms and conditions if you really need to get a hold of some.

They will come back.....they always do. The solution is to stock up when they are available. Ammo and reloading components have become so volatile in the last dozen years or so. A mass shooting here, an election there, don't take much for some folks to get their shorts all twisted and panic buy everything in sight. Conserve what you have and be patient.

I'm having no problem getting bullets. It's small pistol primers that I've had a problem getting.

stock up on anything

Stock up on anything you can't make yourself like primers, powder, and (some) bullets when you see a good deal. As for primers, steadily buy them when available, even if there is not shortage. They might stack up but when the shortage arrives again, you won't be sorry.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger. My crystal ball is broken, too.

Post#6 nailed it. Plain and simple. Burbank jung, did you ever get your lead free bullets for you 30-30?

In stock? They're constantly cycling through. You just have to be in the right place, at the right time.

In stock, on shelves, and readily available at a moment's notice?
12-18 months, if things remain the way they are.
3-5 years, if a democrat takes the white house in November.

Sportsmans Warehouse gets primers in every week if you get there at the right time. Even the staff doesn't know what time that is. 1k limit but $24. for CCI isn't bad.

Anybody want primers, please check my group buy thread.

45er and I spoke by phone this morning. We are still very short, but not like there’s a time limit.

The primers are out there.

Is it that bad already? Man I’m out of the loop. I read on another forum that a “very reliable source” indicated that Federal has already cancelled retail orders for primers until at least 2021.

I do feel for the folks just getting into reloading and I hope it resolves soon

Any time they can use the primers to meet loaded ammunition demand instead of handloading demand, they will. Loaded ammo is more profitable.
