In fact, that's the main reason I got rid of my Firestar in 9MM; mags were just impossible to find.

Larry
Those 9mm mags are Everywhere...it's the .40S&W mags that are hard to find!
Especially for the Ultrastars...I can find 9mm mags all day long for the Fire & Ultra...
Sold one an M43 few months ago and included two extra mags...
Bought an M243 with the proceeds which shares S&W 5900-series mags and was much happier

Eh, might as well Zombie along on it, as Star threads are few & far between

I've got a few Stars myself, collect the "Number Model" Stars.
Had an M43, but the grip was too tiny in my big paw, so upgraded to an M243.
Had an M30-M, but sold it back in the 00s when I ran low on funds...wish I hadn't.
It's on my list to have again, as it & the M243 share mags with the S&W 5900-series,
AND Beretta 92's. All you have to do is add the Mag Catch Hole to the mags.

Currently Have:
M205 Ultrastar in 9mm w/ 5 mags
M205 Ultrastar in .40S&W w/2 mags...those .40 mags are unobtanium, almost as hard to find as...
the Megastar 45, with 3 mags...Numrich currently has those in stock...get em while they're hot!
M243 with 3 of its mags & two M30 mags also.
Two M45's with 3mags each, plus they share mags with the S&W CS45 if you file out the appropriate mag catch hole.

My Star Want List:
Megastar 10mm. Mags are Expensive, around $70 each right now. Average price on the pistol is $700+

Firestar M40 Slide & barrel...as I'd love to slap it onto the M243 for some .40S&W fun!
Yep, you can do that! Not sure about the mag situation, tho...if the 9mm's fit .40's or not.
Anyway, other folks have done it, lots of info on it, except nobody talks about the mag thing??
Go figure. I expect it's the same as the regular M43/M40 Firestar mag swap...hopefully.
if not it's probably a S&W 4000-series, knowing Star's prediliction for using S&W mags

Speaking of the Firestars, here's the kicker about the Mags...
the M43 and M40 EXCHANGE MAGS. And I mean straight up no mods they will fire EITHER
from EITHER. Smartest thing I've ever heard of a gun maker doing...and evidently the only
ones to ever get it right. So if you have M40 mags, they'll work in your M43, and vice versa.

As mentioned above, the M45 can use S&W CS45 mags...and all other S&W 4500-series mags.
Found that out quite accidently when doing a shooting test of CS45 vs M45...since I had both!
Add the proper mag catch hole to either and you can swap mags at will.
Comes in mighty handy to use those 10-rd S&W 4506 mags at the range

I have not yet figured out alternative mags for the Ultrastars or the Megastars...
but I keep searching...Star loved using mags that were already in production instead of
making their own from scratch...for whatever reason.
