after all my powder-puff load bashing....
so after all my powder puff load bashing, especially of magnum cartridges, i need a light load for .44mag.
need a load for a recoil sensitive person. the heaviest recoil they will shoot is from my .44 cap & ball with 25gr black. ive got 180gr sphp, 240gr lswc, 300gr fp for bullets, and an assortment of pistol powders.

7.0g W231 / Universal / Unique. 240g LSWC. Any primer (test for accuracy). Medium-firm crimp.

I have some 240 gr cast SWC loaded with 6.8 gr of 231. It is very mild indeed but still accurate and it doesn't soot up the brass or the action at all. It's a great round for shooting cans at 30'

Be very careful,
I have seen 44mag's loaded light that squibbed. That's a lot of case capacity. Maybe a 44 special cartridge would be a safer way to accomplish what you want.

240 grain cast bullet with about 5 to 6 grains of Red Dot or Bullseye.

Try 6.0gr Trail Boss under that 240gr lswc. That's the starting load listed by Hodgdon. Should be a creampuff. The kinetic energy is about the same as a mid-range 9mm.

I agree with the pizza man. Try some Trail Boss. You will probably find yourself shooting with a lot of it yourself. I use a lot of it with my .41 mag.

7 to 8 grains of Green Dot under a 240 grain LSWC, standard primer. Pleasant and no leading in my Ruger SBH 5.5".
9 grains of Green Dot is a little more of a handful but not much. -cls |
