700 and 783 barrel
Anyone know if the Remington 700 and 783 barrels are interchangeable?

Wikipedia says the 783 has no parts in common with the 700.
So, if you're looking for the barrel of one to screw right on to the action of the other, I'd say the answer is, no. In reality almost any barrel can be fitted to almost any action, but usually involves some machine work, up to including cutting off the threaded shank, turning a new shank, threading it, and then cutting a new chamber. My guess would be if you're looking to rebarrel (either one) you're better off starting with a barrel made for the action you want to put it on.

The Remington 783 is pretty much the old Marlin XS/XL 7 rifle, with a few minor changes. If you're looking for a barrel for a Rem 783 cal McGowen, Criterion, or X-Caliber I know they make pre-fit barrels for that rifle. Any other brand of barrel a competent gunsmith can make fit your Rem 783 rifle.

No. The 783 works like a Savage with a barrel nut for headspace. An M700 does not.
