38 case prep.
Any reason to bell the case mouth on 38 Spec. when reloading beveled base bullets ? Thanks.

Yes, an unflared case mouth will still scrape up lead as it comes above the bevel base. That bevel is just to get the bullet started in the case easily and does not substitute for a bell.

Bell at the mouth
Most reloading manuals will give you a great over-view of this process. For me, when loading cast lead bullets, I bell the mouth wide enough to not cause lead shaving during the seating process. For jacketed bullets, I bell the mouth just enough for the bullet to sit on the case mouth (without falling off) before going into the seating die. I use Dillon 550 & Square Deal equipment.
