I believe a gun is bound to malfunction at some point, no matter what kind it is... there is a reason we train. We train to clear malfunctions quickly.. and effectively.. not just train to fire the weapon.
I do not carry a bug... I carry a knife... which is my last ditch line of defense short of running away.. which generally would be my first choice if its there for the taking. I also don't believe in carrying a recently cleaned gun. I will practice with my carry gun.. break it down.. clean it... shoot about 5 more magazines through it to insure proper function after being taken apart and handled... then it will be good to carry. |

Unless it was obvious that the malfunction was caused by faulty ammo or magazine I would take it out of the line up until I get it to a certified gunsmith.

I put it in the gun safe and complain about it every time someone starts a thread on that model.

I trade this Glock 26 Gen4 (lame azz ejection, FTF/FTE):
For this: Sig P220 Compact SAS (ZERO malfunctions in over 600 rounds) I must admit, the Glock is lighter and more compact for carry.... but the grip feels like a brick! The Sig has amazing ergonomics, and the 45 ACP round feels great to shoot!

The pistol is only as good as its weakest point. For my glock, the plastic guide rod. I bought a steel guide rod. It works ok but it no longer sits on the night stand or on rides my hip. The HKP2000sk rides the hip, M&P watches the house. Again, I have a HK, they dont jam. Glock perfection? I would like a moment for rebutale!

The gun is way too new for that to ever cross my mind this early. Lol...I'm the cleanest gun owner I know. I detail strip and clean every gun I shoot. Even with only 7rds down the barrel. Possible lemon & lime Glock?! |

When I have a CCW that malfunctions, I get rid of it.
I have found no matter how many trouble free rounds I shoot through a gun, after a malfunction I can never trust it. As for Glocks, I have yet to own one built after mid 2009 that has been reliable. Glock used to be "perfection" and then someone apparently tried to fix something that wasn't broken, I guess. I'm not really sure what they changed but something did change. That said I have had two revolvers lock up on me so I can't necessarily say I trust a revolver just because it's a revolver like some have stated early on in this thread. I have had all sorts of brand name guns malfunction on me, so I don't just trust a gun just because of it's name either. I only trust a gun if it has proven reliable through some solid range visits and various "tests" if you will.

All autos can and will experience a malfunction at some point. When someone says they have never experienced a malfunction, I take them at their word, but I wonder exactly how much and how often they shoot. I also am curious as to whether or not they shoot one-handed as well as with their support hand.
Firing an auto from a good stable stance is very different from firing one-handed at a funky angle, which is how a real SD situation may go down. I think it's better to actually experience the occasional malfunction in a range environment. Then you'll know what to do if it happens for real. |

I carry a revolver. It just works.
Amen to that brother! Nice not having to worry about which ammo will work, is the mag loaded, is a round chambered, will it FTF, FTE or stovepipe. |

In almost 27 years I have not had a faulure of any kind yet so what ever I say is guessing how I would react.

If you not experiencing malfunctions or stoppages, you aren't shooting enough.

Here's another vote for the revolver. The LCR is easy to carry and has never failed.

You will be changing your firearm regularly then. I have never heard of a semi-auto that doesn't fail sometimes. If anyone knows one that is guarantied not to fail let me know.
