Congratulations. Read up on it and have fun shooting it. I know on the PSL rifles, if you shoot to heavy of a bullet, the rifle can beat itself to death. Im not sure on the Tigr, but its worth looking in too.

You can get a lot of good quality ammo cheap. Buy as much as you can now. Surplus does not last forever. You may be able to find a manual online in a PDF. Those are nice to have.

I recommend SGammo.com for good deals on 7.62x54. Watch the heavy ball stuff though, as if I have heard correctly, it can damage a semi auto. Most of the surplus ammo is corrosive, so make sure you clean really well.

The easiest way to tell at a glance if it's a PSL or Dragunov/Tigr is the PSL has a rear take-down push button like an AK, while the Drag has a side takedown lever like a SKS.

The last time I saw a Tigr for sale in person it was $2200. Looking on gunbroker they seem to go for more than that.

The way its set up is real neat. The range finding thing is the craziest Ive ever seen.

To cool for you. The original wood and other buts are available and I have seen two restored Tigers less the flash hider and with a muzzle break and the one I saw at the range was awesome on the 300 yard line. The N71 and n72 ammo was built around the rifle and can be found at shows still today. Or you can hand roll your own it's not that hard.

Got it all cleaned and lubed. It really wasn't too bad. It had a nice coat of oil all over, chrome barrel is nice and shiney, no pitting or rust. Only rust is on the bi-pod but thats no big deal. Action is nice and smooth, mmm, now I need some ammo.

Most of the light ball and heavy ball is primed with corrosive primers so pay attention to the gas system after shooting. Everyone has their own idea on when and how much to clean. I have been old but never checked myself that some of the Wolf ammo uses none mercuric primers. For my auto 7.62X53R I use the CCI #34 primers. Good shooting.

Thanks, I don't want to use corrosive ammo. I used to shoot surplus ammo 20+ years ago through an old SKS I used to have but not this one.

I almost bought a Tiger around 2000, or 2001. It was in a gun shop just over the boarder in a neighboring state, and I didn't want the hassle of having it shipped to an FFL, and paying another fee. However, most of the guns I buy are off the web and its not really a hassle at all. I should have bought it, as it was $800. You got a good deal.

Just read that the Tiger rifles with the hooded front sight are a rare variation. Mine has the hooded front sight.
