1940's remington 721

I was wondering what a 1940's remington 721 with low serial number (~57000) is worth in decent condition, the finish and blueing is original but the gun was used for sheep hunting and had some scratchs etc. I was going to add it to my insurance but was wondering what a ball park value was if anything. If its worth less than 1000$ it does not require any modification to my insurance.

It's worth less than $1000. In average good condition those bring around $250-300 on the used gun racks. In a magnum caliber and like new in the box, the value could go over $600-700, but not to $1000.
