Remington Model 11 with Ramline Browning Stock!

OK, a little grinding and adjustments and a 1940 shotgun almost looks badass with a little help from a Browning A5 synthetic stock...

Blasphemy! It looks great. Did someone shorten the trigger pull on the original stock to make it a youth model? Ouch!

I would be interested to know exactly what was needed to fit this stock to your Model 11...I have a riot gun Model 11 with a cracked fore-end and would like to replace it with the ramline.

Check out this baby Whipit, if I could have one (well, 2 or 3) NFA weapons this would be it. Looks like the wood butt was kept and refinished, with short synthetic forearm

Actually, I was thinking about adding an extension to my Model 11 riot gun's mag tube. I have read that Model 870 extensions will thread on, but need a spacer.

Got the Browning A5 Ramline stock and foreend. It was $60 includig s/h.

The foreend slipped right on...no adjustments or anything. It just fits.

The buttstock is a little trickier. I used a dremel to grind out the inside of the action top cover and a 1/2 drill bit to drill out the very end of where the action fits into the stock. Both of these are no big deal and the stock fits the top portion fine. The tang on the Model 11 is a little more curved than the Browning A5. You will have to heat it up and flatten it out a scooch...about 3/8". After heating, I just bent it a little flatter with a monkey wrench (do not bend the tang cold! you'll snap it off). The tang screw won't fit on this angle, so you can find a wood screw the fits and screw it in a hole you will pre drill in the stock. Hey, it's plastic.

If this was ever going to be a shooter, I had to adjust my dad's stock. As you can tell, he hacked off about 1 1/2". Someone on this forum suggested that I keep the stock as he used it (I really like that idea) and get new furniture. Didn't want to deal with another refinish, so took a chance on me being handy and got the Browning stock.

Looks really good with my evil black gun collection.

All told, it took me 35-40 minutes to fit, but I've also got all the tools.

Have fun my friends. I know that I'm a heathen to the 'keep 'er stock' crowd, but now I've got a shooter that fits me....as well as my dad's original setup on the stock (though I'm still gonna do a grind to fit recoil pad for it).

That Mod 11 on Gunbroker looks good. Thing is, with the barrel action on a Model 11, wouldn't you get alot of fire and powder spew on the mag cap?

Also, definitely looks like a chopped Ramline foreend. Can't tell what they used for a stock. Does anyone know?

Did you have the splitting stock problems with wood forends and stocks. I did.

Nope, not personally, but it was split when I got it. I did a repair on the forearm before I refinished it. The metal piece was missing and a chunk of wood was out so I predrilled a hole, shortened a stainless deck screw and sunk it in the hole with carpenters glue. Then dremeled off to length and rounded the edges. For the wood, I found walnut plasti-wood from home depot, so I filled, sanded, stained and finished with water based poly.

Typically your shotgun is configured for heavy loads for it to split. Sooo...don't do dat! Always configure a Model 11 for light loads.

I have heard just the opposite...keep it configured for heavy loads unless you notice incomplete ejection. Also, keep the mag tube free of lube.
Based on this thread, I looked around for one of these ramline A5 sets. They ranged from $55 to $69....I found one on ebay and bid on it, ended up getting it for $42. The fore-end is the most important part to me. If the lower tang needs bent for the new stock, I may just pick up a new trigger guard/lower tang and use that.
Now, to find a mag tube extension...
