Short searches.
Why aren't two-letter "words" permitted in the search feature? Some gun models have a two-number designation and it would help in finding references. Since noone spells these out in the threads, doing so in the search wouldn't help. There may be a way around this I'm not aware of. Hey, this is not a criticism. In fact, I'm asking the question for someone else. And he's often confused and surly, so there you go. Not me. I love this place.

This thread is currently directly above one in which members have noticed a slow down of some kind with TFL lately. If we were to decrease the allowable number of characters in a search from three to two, the resulting slowdown would be noticed by pretty much everyone, pretty much all the time! The three character minimum helps to balance the load on the server, allowing a vast majority of users to view TFL with little or no delay.
You do have a valid concern, Ed. (Or at least your "friend" does) Please trust that this is the best balance that can be arranged. -Dave |
