What Rifle Would You Like Ruger To Make?

Ruger seems to be the leader in listening to their customers, then bringing to market firearms.
What long guns would you like to see them produce?

For me, the "holy grail" would be a semi-auto tube fed 357 Magnum

Picture an IMI Timberwolf crossed with a Ruger Model 44
Essentially a 10 round tube fed Model 44

18" Barrel
Stainless Steel
MRDS ready for the likes of an RMR or DPP
Available with both a wood or poly stock with small side rail for WML
Takedown capability would be the cherry on top.

I think they would sell a buttload of them nation wide, with special appeal for ban cities/states.

An alternative would simply be a modernized Model 44 or Deerfield chambered in 357, I would prefer the M44 style as the internal magazine can at least be topped off. Also in stainless and MRDS/WML ready.

Another firearm I would love to see is a modernized revolving rifle in 357 Magnum.
A nice foundation would be the Ruger Redhawk 8-round cylinder.
Stainless, MRDS ready, ring mounts for low power scope, blast shield.

A mini bolt action receiver with CRF chambered in intermediate rifle cartridges (.204 Ruger, .224 Valkyrie, .25-45 Sharps, 6.5 Grendel, 300 BLK, 8mm Kurz) in stainless steel. The rotary-style magazine as used in the M77 could add even more versatility to the chamberings.

Ruger should also do short-barrel (arm-braced 'pistol') versions of their PCC.

You and I are terry much on the same page, although I had always envisioned a modern camp 9 type rifle in .357 with it using desert eagle or conman pattern magazines.

I asked them for a semi auto, tube fed rifle chambered for the .327, .357, .44, and .45 Colt a year ago and I mentioned make it a dual tube magazine with a selector like the KSG has. IDK< but 15+1 of .357 Magnum in a semi auto rifle screams win to me. Back then I suggested keeping it around $700, but I would probably pay $1000 for it.

If they did make a semi auto in .357 and only gave it a 5 round tube, I would lose all interest.

Other than that, I'm with Frankenmauser on the bolt action .327 and I was just saying in another thread that I may contact Hornady to persuade them to make a .312 FTX or VMax bullet with weights under 100 grains intended for the .32 Magnums. Then again, I'm sure there are some who would like a lighter .312 bullet and a reduced load for small game use in their .303 and 7.62x54r rifles.

Yeah, I should've gotten one of the All-Weather M77s back in the day in .30-06 or .308. Perfect for an all-round, hard use truck or 'beater' rifle.

If they ever bring those back again, I hope it comes with iron sights, preferable with a sturdy barrel-banded front sight and a shielded rear aperture sight (as on the GSR).

I certainly wouldn't.
While I would prefer 10, a five round capacity using their current 77/357 magazine, or better still a tube style ala Deerstalker would be awesome.
Capacity concerns are given too much weight IMO, and if it were a matter of "five" or "nothing", I'll take the five.
Even at just five, such a lightweight and modernized 357 Magnum carbine would likely become my go-to truck, SD/HD, do everything long gun.
But yes ten would certainly be preferable

A CX4 style 357 carbine where the magazine is held in the grip would be ideal for using crossover mags.
It would also help shorten overall length.

I also would like to see Ruger make a good pump action. Something to rival and beat the Remington 760. Good strong extractor with a square for-end hanger that can't be twisted so a free floated barrel would not get touched by the wood. Good trigger and maybe a tang safety or a reversible cross bolt. They should be made in 308 length from 243 to 358 and in 30-06 length from 25-06 to 9.3X62.

Also make a good modern 22 pump like Remington, Winchester and Savage used to make in the 20s-30s. Not a copy, but something with a long barrel long mag for lots of capacity and market it with a standard issue peep sight. and a scope base too.

And maybe a lever action. A rifle similar to the old Savage M99 would be very good, and again made in all the 308 base calibers. Start with the 22-250 and add the 243, 6.5 CM, 7-08 308, 338 Federal and 358 Winchester.

All the above should have excellent barrels and be highly accurate. A pump with a telescoping hanger made from squares is easy to free float.

Some say such accuracy is not possible with a lever gun, but I know that's not correct. My friend John has a Henry in 6.5 CM that shoots under MOA with factory ammo, and I also have seen the 100+ year old design of the Marlin 336 (and the old 36) shoot under MOA many times. The factory just has to set a goal to do it and hold to the goal.

Yep, that too .... But maybe offered also in the aforementioned All-Weather 'paddle' stock for use in rainy environs, such as in certain regions of Alaska.

The .35 Whelen is a great cartridge for Grizz and brownies.

We Whelen lovers want more. But it's a niche cartridge. Not much demand.
