Thank you, Jim.
It's a 5 shot revolver so it must be the Chief's Special. Thanks again

I just picked up a fantastic M66 .357 4 - inch

4K17608

As far as I can tell it is a 'no dash' early model 66.

Cheers!

Hey guys
I have the same old story. My Grandfather recently passed away and I now have his old revolver and I am having one hell of a time finding some parts for it as I am lost trying to locate model and year make.

has a round set of grips, it is full size last patent date DEC 29 14
the # on the butt and under the barrel match 297xxx inside the yoke and cil arm both are stamped 4515. Ill try to up load some pictures later any idea of model, year and value of this. Id like to carry it with me hunting becuase thats what he'd want.
Thanks
Micah

.38 Military & Police Model of 1905, 4th Change.
The serial number dates it to around 1920.

Parts will not be easy to find short of buying damaged/worn guns for parts from that era (pre WWII).

S&W made allot of them so value is not real high, maybe $400.

BTW, S&W still makes that gun today (updated of course) as the model 10.

I couldn't make it through all 144 posts but this looks like the place to be.
First, thanks for the knowledge and my humble offerings wish the best to all.

Just purchased a model 37 that's in really nice shape but I can't find a source other than this one that can tell me what year it is.( besides S&W and a $50. donation.)

serial# BAF09XX

Thank you laytonj1

14-3

Hi Jim! Would you be so kind as to look up 3K62602? It is a 14-3, and I think it was born circa 1971-72.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Santiago

Grannies got a gun

I found out my grandmother has an older Smith and Wesson double action revolver. The S/N, or least what I think the is the S/N on the bottom of the butt, is 120XXX. The hammer (exposed) and trigger have an almost blued finish while the rest looks like a nickel type finish. It has a trigger guard. The last patent date listed on the barrel is Jan 3, 1982. Any help on the age and model would be appreciated. I'd like to get a rough value in order to buy it for a fair price and keep it in the family.

Thanks!

Does anyone have info on a S&W model 37 airweight serial number AFF94XX
I think some had aluminum cylinder and then later on had a steel cylinder. I would like to know which this one has, I am looking at it for sale and don't have access to it to check myself.
I would appreciate any info you guys could give me.

Yours was made in 1984.
The aluminum cylindered models ended in 1954.

Jim, if his gun is a no-lock, I believe it will be pre 2002.

Stan, I don't have my book handy, but given where your serial number is in relation to mine, yours is probably 1998 or so.

Well, you're right!
I went back and looked under the model 317 listings itself rather than the serial number listing and it shows some "LGT" prefix guns being made in 1997.

Just an FYI, but S&W has been offering some "no lock" J frame models for the last couple years, which is what I assumed this was.

Of course, you know what they say about assuming...

Jim
