Does your reloading area look this messy after 4 hours work?

Just when I thought I was done, I think, wow I have a lot to clean up. Just a hand me down Lee press, I'm in the market for a progressive.

My load area is far cleaner than either of the pics. I couldn't function like that. The guns laying around is certainly not my gig either.

Because my work area is so small, I have to keep it tidy or I will be spilling stuff or knocking things over.

I keep stuff in order and labelled. Even my messes look neat! It's too easy to lose track of what you're doing and make ammo that will blow a gun up...or worse.

If you look close at my pic you'll see there is no powder around . I was testing case headspace and seating depths . I believe at the time I was posting in real time here at TFL about what I was doing .

There is a lot of things on that bench that would never be there if I was actually reloading a cartridge . Trimmer , wrenches , flash light , sizing dies , bushings , hammer puller etc etc .

My bench is much cleaner when reloading

You have a wall? and a corner and another wall? MY walls are at least 3 ft. away. You have a work bench? I have stands.

The area is in my basement. I keep the powder in the garage cabinet. When I start to reload, I grab the powder I need and put back when finished. The garage is pretty safe with a firewall between, it even blocks most the WiFi signal. The house came with a table attached to about 1/3 of the basement walls, it's very convenient.

Perhaps I'm a little different, I'm sure because of how I was raise and taught to use tools. If yer tools ain't taken care of, they won't take care of you. I would never leave my dial calipers laying on the bench, they are picked up, measures something, then put back. No big deal. I find reloading is so much easier and enjoyable if I don't have to dig around for components and my dies have individual boxes where they live. No, my shop is not pristine, with every screw in it's assigned place, but there's a big difference between sloppy and cluttered, and I rarely have to look for components or tools...

(started using Pa's tools when I was 10, and became a lifelong machinist/mechanic who depended on tools to put beans on the table)

I am surprised to see so much activity going on and no notes or log book....

When doing a process, I like a clear unworked bin, in process 1- 10 cases and a completed bin. Then I can’t get lost in the middle.

I also noticed a lack of labels, but sometimes that is hard to see. ...for example, I keep 1 powder can out to tell me what I’d in the measure, 1 primer cover to tell me primers in use, label on last load on my due box.

That said, my tools tend to pile up a bit until I switch processes.

I keep notes on my iPad. I also input how a rifle performs with different loads. I don't have a chrono yet, but I can record accuracy.

1. I agree reloading bench should be clean

2. Yours makes mine look like I am the worlds worst reloader, yours is a clean room by comparison.

Sleep well at night, I don't - I have nightmares about that messy bench chasing me down and stuffing powder down my throat.

ps: I don't have pistols laying on top of boxes though!

My dad was a diesel mechanic. I guess my tools are more tolerant, they do fine (mostly ) - I am a pathetic case of not being well organized (well, maybe not at all). I am used to me as are my tools.

I did get all my paperwork cleaned up on the Dining table this weekend though!

Looks alright to me - other than the precariously placed pistols. (If you don't want it to fall, don't put it where it can.)

That would be me also. About now, my reloading areas are sort of expanded across half the house.
