.300 Savage Loads
I am loading some.300 Savage for a friend and I am having trouble finding a good choice of data for 180 gr bullets. I want to use AccuBond 180s but the data I find is mostly in the 2000fps region. Would like to use Hodgdon podwers for 2300 or better fps. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks... |

Hodgdon Data
Use this link:
http://www.hodgdon.com/data/rifle/300sav.php .300 Savage is not a 30-06. I don't think you should try for much more than 2100 ft/s with that cartridge. |

Seems to be a selection of data below 2100 or above 2300 out there. My Speer #9, Win Ball Powder Book, and Hornady Vol II have data in the 2300++ range, with some Nosler #4 and Accurate #1 loads above 2500. Other sources don't want to break 2100.
Hodgdon site lists loads for their powder in the range you listed, but also now publishes loads for Win ball powder as hot as 2410. Go to the wwpowder link on their site then to rifle/300 savage. http://www.wwpowder.com/data/rifle/300sav.php |

Here's data from Accurate Arms.
http://www.accuratepowder.com/data/P...20to%20258.pdf Easily give you 2,400 with the 180-gr. bullet. At least in theory. Personally, in loading the .300 Savage over the years, I've always found that it really performs best with 150 to 165-gr. bullets.
