Kel-Tec Sub 2000 Recall

Quote:
We have recently identified an issue with the heat treatment...This could potentially cause the barrel to rupture when a cartridge is fired and could result in serious personal injury.

This recall only affects a portion of SUB-2000s that were manufactured in 2017.

Those are cool little guns but Nutnfancy found issues with the gen 2 version such as a weal front sight assembly et. al. Don't think I'd purchase one at this point.

Mine are pre-recall and I have gen 1 and 2 9 and 40. Amazing lil carbines! I have tricked out a few and left the others stock. Perfect truck guns, trunk guns, standby in the corner guns. No issues I didn't cause with these! Get one now as with every media scare event these seem to dry up sometimes for quite awhile!

Have 2 gen 2's, a .40 and 9mm. Nice, light, surprisingly accurate and compact carbines. The triggers suck, and the sights do not inspire confidence in their durability. Easy to clean, but on both models the lands (rougher than the grooves) stripped the plated bullets tried.

Prices coming back down now that Ruger introduced their new carbine.

Uncomfortable to shoot for sure. Cheek weld is comical. Once you get the hang of shouldering this little carbine, it really starts to shine. Stone cold reliable, plenty accurate despite a horrific trigger, lots of rail for gadgets. Lightweight and compact. Kel Tec's website has a recall page where you can enter the serial number and see if your carbine is involved in the recall.

I've had my Gen 1 for some time. I was fortunate to pick up a replacement front sight assembly from BlueForceGear many moons ago; all metal, AR15 styled-front post assembly. The trigger has been my only major complaint, but other than that, they are perfect for the niche they fill...

With the recall, if anything Kel-Tech is pretty good with customer service...

the new Ruger 9mm carbine is a better choice, since it's a take down model, it's just as compact, and probably made better.

I would love to add a few of the 1st gen 5906 mag models to my collection for me and my sons. I have a friend with a 40cal model and he has never had any problems with his and its used as his self defense home weapon.

I prefer the Sub2000. Lighter and the folding feature is ever bit as good as take down. In fact faster to get in action.

The Sub 2000 is a gun everyone should have. They're that neat!

Atleast they are not covering it up, odd I don’t remember it’s competition at half of the price having quality issues.
