South Dakota Pheasants

Well, another lackluster year of Utah pheasant hunting has finally taken its toll. Dad and I have decided to go to South Dakota and do some real pheasant hunting either next year or the year after.

We want to do it right and are willing to spend a bit of money for a good experience, but would like a recommendation from someone in the area or who has been there/done that. We'd like to get an inclusive type deal with lodging and all, if only to avoid the hassle of figuring out where everything is, but if someone has a strong recommendation for something else, I'd love to hear it.

The main thing we are looking for a good hunt with wild birds.

Any suggestions?

Look at this site for listings. I found that you can spend as little as $200/day or as much as $800/day, depending on how fancy you want to go.

If I knew how to link to previous posts on here I'd do it but as I'm a incompetent you'll have to look it up.

Do a search under bwsiv and look for the one titled "pheasant report".

That was our FIRST try at it.

I would recomend the guy we used......but then I have nothing to compare it to so take it from there.

And I should point out that we went to go HUNTING not drinking so we were very happy with how it all worked out.

I'll answer any questions I can but as I said this was our first experence.

Pierre, SD is home to many pheasant guides. The best supply trained dogs and handler. Before booking a hunt, contact State Attorney General and County Sheriff to find out about complaints or legal action.

Good shooting to you.

I used to hunt with a guide in CO for waterfowl, that was from SD, if you enjoy waterfowl, book with a guide that will take you waterfowling in the am since you have to wait till noon to pheasant hunt, if memory serves me correctly. Good luck and enjoy, just my 2 cents
