More fails

Yep--as frustrating as it seems I think I've zeroed in on the final laundry list of things to fix. First, I'll take the bolt apart and either grind down the sxtractor or replace it altogether. Second--the Aero lower has to go--there is no way the gun will function properly with the out-a-whack tolerances. lesson learned (finally).

Oh and then there's this with the minimalist stock--the retaining spring simply blew through the bottom of the buttstock--I don't know what exactly caused this--somehow it looks like the retainer sheared off when the stock came under pressure while locked to the buffer tube is my guess.

Despite the continued jams (and damage to the cartridges that didn't load right) I still managed to get a couple of promising groups.

You could go with a Aero upper which should fix the pin issue. Monmount has them for $139 assembled or $104 stripped:

That's my eventual plan--but the math works out to 4 new builds!!! Once I've got an upper properly tuned and timed--I don't like taking them apart unless I have to.

I took a look at those--but they are high profile uppers.

Here's what I believe the extractor problem is due to. The inward bevel of the claw is not machined adequately--resulting in a wider "trap" of the case rim by many thousandths of an inch. I may be totally off on my guess--but I'm going to file it down anyway to see if that makes a difference.

So I filed and stoned the extractor claw to reduce the "circumference footprint" as shown in the (poor) photo:

Went out and shot a couple of 5 round mags to test it--and happily everything performed flawlessly--no issues with cycling, ejection or BCG lock-back.
