Rem. 870 bolt assembly interchangeable?
I found a extra 870 chrome factory bolt assembly and want to know if it is interchangeable with all 870 shotguns ( magnums and non magnums, 2 3/4" and 3")? Thanks

I can find only one bolt body listed for 12 ga guns, although it has an A after it, suggesting some mod.

870 bolts are interchangeable within gage.
Unlike rifles, the bolts are drop-in. One difference, newer guns with a Flex-tab use a slightly different bolt than the older guns did. Installing a new bolt in an old gun is OK, but an old bolt may not work properly with a Flex-tab. The gun itself will work just fine, it's that the Flex-tab may not function correctly. |

How do you tell the difference between the new bolt and the old style bolt?

It's kind of obscure.
The newer Flex-tab bolt has a slanted or sloped area at the lower bottom front of the bolt. |

Yes. IIRC, CDNN was selling as-new parkerized or black chrome 870 bolts a couple of years ago, which were drop-in replacements for the standard chrome bolts.
