Sure. There's the "frag", the "satchel", the "CS grenade", the "Willie Pete", the "fire for effect", the "target painted...cleared hot", etc, etc.

It's highly specialised, but...

I can usually clear a room, just by breaking wind...sometimes I can get a whole restaurant, if the wind is right...

The 'quick peek' and 'slicing the pie' I'm familiar with, but could you describe the other two? No words of more than three syllables, please...

They get paid to do stuff like that. I'm not gonna stick my head into a room, with the chance that someone's gonna blow it off unless I absolutely have to... Just hunker down, and wait for a nice clear target.

Yeah, I'm sneaky. So?

Unless you have a very good reason to try to clear a room (wife or daughter being held hostage), you should let the cops handle it. A door is often referred to as a fatal funnel, since it acts as a natural bullet highway. Incoming fire always has the right of way.

Cops generally operate in teams when clearing rooms, and the military prefers to use high explosives. Both should tell you that trying to clear a room as an individual is a bad idea.

A good room clearing method if you don't want to wait on the cops is turning loose the hairy, 4-legged, Alpo eating, anti-intrusion and audible alarm system. Bow-wow.

I prefer to let police handle this type of thing.

However I came home with a friend one night and her back door was open. I immediatly backed her and me into a corner and together we "cleared the house" She provided back up for each room. I moved swiftly in and out. Then I found otter pops in the bathroom. Turns out that some kids had crawled in through the kitty door and sat in the bathroom eating their otter pops. Nothing was missing. It could have been real bad tho if those kids were hidding somewhere in the house.

From now on I think I will let the boys in blue do the wet work.
The pros are best at handling this stuff. Problem with doing his is somebody bad can sit in the dark with cover and wait till you walk in to clear the room and pop you before you even know they are there.

Well, according to some of the things you read, you simply stick the muzzle of a shotgun into the room through the door, at ANY angle, and touch off.

The buckshot will immediately form a room-filling cloud, destroying any target in the room.

I haven't seen them on the shelf lately, but then I haven't looked either...I had to clear my home once several years back..came home and found an open window. I set off 6 of the "D-Con" brand 4-gone "roach bombs". In about 3 minutes, a local "punky boy" climbed out the window, "koff koff hack hack Why the *** did you gas me, man? ? ? ?" he asked, as the police hauled him away.......

"Why did you gas me?"

"Because I couldn't see you to shoot you..."
