Missouri deer hunting

Specifically the Rifle Season Opener, it was pretty slim Pickens at the CA where my family and I usually hunt. I saw one little deer twice, usually I will see 5-7 deer opening day, whether I get a shot at one or not. It was terrible windy Saturday with temps in 60's. And Sunday it stayed warm, with intermittent rain systems that moved through was quickly and thin.. but I did see three young hen Turkeys.
How is everyone's deer season goin?
This could very well be my last because of Leukemia, but it ain't stopping me yet..

season and regards

Geez Hooligan, sorry to hear your not healthy. Admire your spirit and wish you the best. Have several friends fighting a similar fight.

My season? I've made 15 archery hunts since season came in 15Oct. Mostly hunting in the PM at my convenience. It has been unusually hot with corresponding variable winds and hard to get deer close. I actually fished more the first 10 days of the season rather than hunt. Odd mast year, acorns spotty. I have seen only 3 rubs in the woods and no antlers to date. Not really seeing all that many deer period, most moving just at dark. When the weather has moderated and temp is cooler, I have been otherwise obligated and could not hunt. Heard my first geese going south (big flocks of Snows) just this week. Muzzleloader season came in 18Nov, but I bow hunted that morning (legally) anyhow. Saw notta!
Despite all the above, on 8Nov on an afternoon hunt on public land near home, I took a mature doe with a dandy 19 paces shot WITH MY DAD'S BOW, which made the kill extra special. I was with him when he bought the bow in '95.

Our best hunting is yet to come, sometime around the first of the new year.

regards....hang tough... bama ranger

Sorry to hear about your health challenge. I'm gonna miss opening day on Saturday due to a blood clot in my left atrium, but I'll be at it after Thanksgiving.

I was going to text you to see how you're hunt went. My other buddy from PB MO got a busted up 8 point and doe over the weekend. He's hunting a private lease he has held for many years, so he saw a few more deer. He said it was slow as well for his lease.
