Adjusting the Lee rifle charging die

A friend loaned me his rifle charging die so that I can use my Lee Classic Turret to charge the .223 case with powder. I tried to adjust in a manner similar to their pistol charging die but it doesn't seem to work well. He doesn't have instructions so this is a hit or miss issue.

Can anyone give me the Cliff's Notes on setting up the rifle charging die so that I can use it?

Thank you

Hopefully I can help keep you from crushing as many cases as I did. The die won't screw in nearly as much as you would think. The easiest way I found was to screw the die about half way into the turret. Run a case into the die with a full stroke and see where the cavity in the disk is in relation to the drop hole. Keep adjusting the die down until the cavity ends up over the drop hole. My rifle charging die is around three threads up from the bottom of the turret, up inside not past. That will let me get a full stroke on the handle without crushing a case.

PERFECT advice. Your description was right on and I am no longer crushing cases and getting a full charge. Thank you.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one who had this problem.
