is it not possible they was sold over run inventory or some such?
Listen maybe something changed why don't you contact ATK and ask them. I did way back when and it did not seem to be a secret. Report back what they say I'd be interested in hearing. If you think im BS'ing you I will forward the original 2011 email I got from them when they first hit wally world. PM me your email address.. I mean unless you think I'd fabricate a email just to win a argument about something I don't even care about on the internet. .. But I know how this board loves "evidence" and "proof" Raw email (with headers) below, name and email address removed. If you want the original PM your email and I will forward you a copy of the actual email. Quote:

All I did was debunk your "fact" that it was a walmart only product. Not saying Walmart doesn't buy in bulk, they do. They also do have some companies make things of lesser quality so they can sell what appears to be the same for less (think blue jeans).
BTW, last time I checked my calendar, it was 2017, not 2011. Lots of things can change in 6 years. YOU seem to be the one getting bent out of shape about this - I'm not. https://www.ammunitiondepot.com/1559...grain-fmj.html http://www.luckygunner.com/9mm-115-g...on-1000-rounds http://palmettostatearmory.com/feder...ds-wm5199.html http://www.ammoman.com/9mm-luger-fed...99-1000-rounds And on and on it goes....... Guess your contact was mistaken, OR Federal decided to sell it to everyone else too. Relax and have a happy 4th of July.......

Fitasc, I've seen products normally exclusive or special order end up at other stores.. especially online.
EX: Federals policy on HST's is the 50 round LE boxes are not for sale on the civilian market. When they were first introduce this meant there was no easy way to get the ammo except online. Eventually the came out with 20 round civi boxes at jacked up rates. This policy was set forth by Federal to apply to distributors. You could do what you want but if federal found out they might stop selling to you. And yet you could still get the boxes.. ONLINE.. a lot of stuff happens Online that normally would not. Another example pet meds like revolution, you can't get this without a vet prescription.. unless.. oh my gosh you can buy it online from "some" shops. It's applied like most flea meds sold over the counter, difference is it actually works. Or pest control supplies like Termidor for termites.. nope can't buy that in store.. but sure as hell can online. 3 out of 4 of the links you provided are online only merchants.. far as I know only PSA has any B&M's and who knows if they even sell it instore. Im not "bent out of shape" about you or this topic, I do find this to be the most skeptical board I've ever been on.. no one takes anyone else at their word unless they have hard evidence or claim to be a certified expert. Things very well could have changed, I'll see if I get you a fresh answer. But the thought that they was "WRONG" when they wrote that email in 2011? not a chance it was talked about quite a bit when it first hit walmart shelves, apparently you either don't remember or wasn't around for it. |

I have bought most of my ammo from Walmart for years and I have never had a problem or any issue with any of their centerfire or shotgun shells (like everyone else and regardless of brand, rimfire occasionally does not fire every time). I shoot a lot of Federal. I shoot 38 special, 9mm, 380, 5.56 and 223 as well as 12 gauge.

And Federal makes ammo for all price points and they have other companies make ammo for them as well.....Nothing wrong with that. They run huge batches and sell to whomever is willing to buy, and as shown, the WM5199 is available from a lot of other folks. Personally, I prefer to buy it online with free shipping and no sales tax collected than trying to find a worker in wallyworld who has the key to the cabinet and knows how to conclude the sale.
