Taurus 24/7 pro or Ruger P95??
So, I already own the Taurus, its the .40 with the duo-tone slide. I have it on consignment at the new gun shop down the street. I stopped in there last night and noticed the Ruger on the shelf right next to it, and I liked the look of it. The Taurus, however was a great pistol. I was actually in there to get it back because I missed having it, and it hadn't sold after 3 months. After handling the Ruger I was ready to make a trade. I asked about trading and he said he would do it straight up. I have to wait until Monday to get a purchase permit, so I have time to think it over. Any advise??

i own both. ive shot the ruger thousands of times but the taurus had seen a few hundreds only.thats only becuase i bought the ruger 1. seems like the taurus has a better trigger but the ruger still has a good single action. both are reliable and the deal is still fair regardless.

P95 is one reliable gun. I would take it straight-up.

I have no experience with the Taurus but the P95 is a very good gun. Very accurate and functions great especially to be just $300 new.

Poly tauri are hit or miss. But the pt-92/99 are as good as any other.

+1 to what Budda said. The PT92 is a good pistol but the QC with the polymer guns seems to be hit and miss at best. I havent had a good one. Of those 2 I would get the P95 without a second thought on it.

I have owned both. My P95 was the most reliable gun I've ever owned, 2500 rounds of U.S.-spec ammo without a malfunction. My two 24/7 Pros each had a malf every now and then, enough to drop them below the top shelf in terms of reliability.
Ruger service is top-notch, Taurus does not have such a great reputation. The P95's DA pull was a bit long for me, the gun is a bit fat for my hand, thus I sold it. But not for any other reason. I think the Taurus DA/SA trigger is very strange, so no advantage to Taurus there. For long term reliability, go Ruger. If you really like the Taurus, it's probably OK. Why not both? But if you must choose, my choice would be the Ruger. |
