Canadian Push Back to recent Gun Control
Well color me wrong.
I didn’t think there was going to be a push back in Canada about Trudeau’s assault weapons ban. Here’s the Ontario Premier Doug Ford saying: "You think gun violence is going to go down in Toronto? I don't believe gun violence is going to go down in Toronto based on taking guns off legal gun owners." https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toron...ario-1.5553674 And here’s a Toronto lawyer writing an opinion piece for the CBC where he says: “In short, the government is criminalizing some people's property [some but not all semi-automatic firearms] not because it will make anyone safer, but because it can – because it knows that the political benefits far outweigh any loss in popularity among people who were probably not inclined to vote Liberal in the first place.” https://www.cbc.ca/news/opinion/opin...tics-1.5556541 To me both articles seem sober and well-reasoned and I would hope they would cause Canadians to re-think their latest gun restrictions. |
