Ball and maxi size question
It is I, the newb again. I know, a thousand questions.
I just picked up a 45 TC Hawken. I went to the TC web site looking for a instruction down load which should have the ball size and reccomended loads. It is as though they never made anything in 45. No manuals, no mention anywhere of 45 anything. Anyway, if you could help me out with round ball sizing and maxi sizes and some pet loads, I would be very grateful. |

If you contact TC, they will send you a copy of manual that has all the information you are looking for, in the most common calibers. They address the PBB, MaxiBalls and MaxiHunters. The manual has a part number of 31007401. (Shoting TC black powder Muzzleloading Firearms)
For your .45 Hawken model. It lists a .440" (127 grs) There is a range of patch thickness and perhaps the most common is .015. 50 grs. of FFG is listed as the min. and Max. is 90 grs. of FFG. Do not exceed the Max. .... TC's pet load is listed at 60 grs. On you Maxi-Balls, you are looking at .45 (200grs.) Lubricated. These are getting harder to find. TC's pet load is listed at 70grs. (Pet loads are subjective and you will have to put in some range-time to determine yours.) Be Safe !! Last edited by Pahoo; November 9, 2010 at 04:33 PM. |
