Mossberg 500 persuader

I just purchased one today.

I was trying to load 5 2 3/4 inch shells into the tube after initial cleaning and can only get two (2) shells into the tube. I did not completely disassemble the gun.

I fired it like that and it shot well.

Is there something that I am doing or have not done so that 5 shells will go into the tube. YouTube videos show loading 5 shells into the magazine tube.

I was trying to keep the chamber empty.

I am in North Carolina. Thanks!

They come with a dowel in the mag tube to limit capacity for hunting. Remover the barrel and turn the gun muzzle down. The dowel should come part way out of the screw hole in the end of the mag tube. Just pull it out, a couple of O rings hold it in

Thanks, That is it. I had done that previously but it did not come out.

This time after you confirmed my stupidity the dowel came out with a good shaking.

Progress!

Thanks so much!

It's to keep people from getting too many ducks, lest they run out of fat quackers to grace the heavens with their majestic visage.

I have a Persuader; 7+1. They aren't fighting guns anymore? Mine is 30+ years old, no dowel in mine.
