S.C. concealed gun bill passes

Looks like a step forward in the right direction for my home state. State lawmaker Mike Pitts in the video ,was a police officer for the city I live in before he got into politics.

Chances look good going forward in the state congress. What are the odds of the governor signing it?

Chances are pretty good the Governor will sign the bill. Governor Haley is pro gun.

The original Bill had a number of problems with it.... when Grassroots S.C. tried to point these out... the committee turned a blind eye... then one of the members of the committee a Rep. Viers... amended the bill that would basically make it illegal for any non resident of S.C. who did not have a permit from their home state that was recognized by S.C. (there a a lot of these) to even have possession of a handgun in the state. Mr. Viers for several days claimed this was not so, then turned around and posted a new amendment on the legislative web that has not even been looked at yet..

to be blunt... it's a mess and most likely the lawmakers aren't going to do anything but let it all fail... because as always they can't agree on anything.

by the way... this was just one of three committees before the bill had to go to the real debates...

You've got about as much chance for CC in Calif as we do here in Maryland. You've probably got a better chance. LMAO

It depends where you are in CA. A lot of the rural counties are all but Shall Issue. I got mine fairly quickly here in Stanislaus Co. without having to provide some hokey good cause. It can be sweet or it can be rotten here in the "Golden State"!

Hopefully this will be good news for Georgians living on the SC line too.

Make them reciprocate with their fellow states as well.

As it is now, I can carry from PA to Florida, with only one state excepted, South Carolina, the only state that doesn't honor our carry permits.

C'mon SC, even West Virginia is more progressive.

Get a move on already.

The S.C. 'lawmakers' once again have proven they can't do diddle... they'll talk a good game but when it comes down to actually doing anything....

last word is the bill with it's vast array of added amendemnts will be tabled... The Viers' amendment I mentioned above was 14 pages long.... go figure.

I sent an email to our state repesentative Mike Pitts concerning this bill and where it stands. His reply..."stuck in comittee" It reminds me of the old Saturday morning cartoon about how a bill becomes law.

Does he deserve to be punished with the loss of his civil rights?

Everytime a state moves forward like this, it puts more pressure on the anti-gun minority currently in power in Illinois.
