Howdy guys,

The more I think about CAS the more interesting it becomes. I've got a #3 Sporter from Shiloh Sharps in 45-70, will this rifle work for any of the CAS matches? I still plan on getting a repeater such as a Henry, or 1866, but I am curious what niche the Sharps would fill. Thanks a lot.

Howdy Alex,

Most large annual matches, and a few monthly matches, have Long Range side events. Your Sharps would be ideal for these,as well as the Plainsman side match, which uses Cap & Ball revolvers,a single shot rifle, and a double barreled shotgun, all shooting black powder.

You might also look for Black Powder Cartridge Rifle matches in your area, which would be a good place to shoot that Sharps.
